Looking ahead, Judge Ruben Becerra is focused on strengthening Hays County’s healthcare infrastructure to meet the needs of a rapidly growing and diverse population. One of his key priorities for a second term is advancing the creation of a Hays County Hospital District—a long-term, voter-driven solution to expand access to care, stabilize local healthcare systems, and ensure residents can receive critical services close to home. Judge Becerra believes healthcare is foundational to public safety, economic stability, and overall quality of life, and that local control is essential to building a system that truly serves the community.

A Hospital District would allow Hays County to plan proactively for emergency care, mental health services, and preventative health programs while reducing strain on law enforcement, first responders, and surrounding counties.
